Cambridge kept the Bombers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Rhynold made 39 saves on 42 shots. The Winter Hawks struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. Cambridge was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of nine man advantages.

The Winter Hawks were helped by Alex Mutton, who registered one goal. Mutton scored on the power play 19:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cambridge. Cambridge had taken the advantage when Brampton's Lucas Toth got sent off for roughing. Beau Goehrum picked up the assist.
