Leamington pulls away in second, rolls over Lambton Shores, 6-1

The Lambton Shores Predators allowed the Leamington Flyers to net three goals during the second period and fell, 6-1.

Mitchell Amante was all over the ice for Leamington, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Amante scored the first of his two goals short handed at 6:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington. The Flyers played down a man on Aaron Langlois's elbowing. Matthew Opblinger assisted on the tally. Amante's next tally short handed made the score 2-0 Leamington with 18:25 left in the second period. Zach Guilbeault picked up the assist.

Lambton Shores' power play was ineffective against Leamington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:43 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Leamington also got points from Mitchell Crevatin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Leamington also had goals scored by Derek Elliott, Liam Hogan, and Evan Ferguson, who each put in one. In addition, Leamington received assists from Brett Vorshuk, Cale Phibbs, and David Storey, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Wall made 24 saves for the Flyers on 25 shots. Leamington totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Flyers, Thomas Virban was ejected from the game. Anthony Hurtubise took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Keegan Paulette who made six saves. The Predators ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Lambton Shores ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Marcel Berube was ejected from the game.
