Chatham falls to London after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the London Nationals battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Chatham Maroons.

London let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Nationals took a 4-3 advantage on a goal by Scott Goodman at 16:21 in the second period. London found itself down 2-0 after Chatham's Teddy McGeen put the puck home short handed at 13:52 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a goal by Dede Cato at 7:06 in the third, the Nationals got the game-winner from John Adams at 18:10 in the third period.

London was paced by Adams, who finished with one goal.

The Nationals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Maroons to score on any of their five power plays. Chatham was unable to stop London from sending pucks towards the net, and the Nationals eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

London also got points from Kevin Madden, who also registered one goal and one assist, Goodman, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and John Warren, who also racked up one goal and one assist. London also got a goal from Rai Di Loreto as well. In addition, London received assists from Callum Ruddock, Scott Dorion, and Jordan Di Cicco, who contributed one each and Austin Kemp and Trevor Dulong, who each chipped in two.

The Maroons' offense rang up 48 shots on London's net.

Others who scored for Chatham included Chris Corgan and Austin Thompson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Chatham came via Gus Ford, who had two and Connor Koviak, Mark Fratarcangelli, Ian Faubert, and Michael Levesque, who contributed one each.

Connor Hughes recorded 44 saves for the Nationals. London incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Parker Butler rejected 36 shots on goal for Chatham. The Maroons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
