Vendramin leads Sarnia over LaSalle, 5-1

Behind a great game by Ryan Vendramin, who had one goal and three assists, the Sarnia Legionnaires defeated the LaSalle Vipers, 5-1.

Vendramin scored 1:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Sarnia. Alec DeKoning picked up the assist. Vendramin dished an assist on Brock Perry's goal that made the score 3-0 Sarnia at 15:55 into the first period. He then added assists on DeKoning's goal at 16:04 into the second and on Brad Yowart's goal at 3:57 into the third.

Sarnia was led by goalie Aidan Hughes, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Hughes certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.22 entering the contest.

LaSalle was unable to stop the Legionnaires from sending pucks towards the net, and Sarnia eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Sarnia also got points from DeKoning, who also registered two goals and two assists and Perry, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Jarret Marks, who had one.

The Vipers were held below their usual level of production. LaSalle puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

The Vipers were led by Liam MacDougall, who scored the team's only goal. MacDougall scored on the power play 5:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Sarnia. LaSalle had gotten the advantage when the Legionnaires' Joey Zappa was sent off for slashing. Manny Silverio assisted on the tally.

Sarnia incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Vipers' Eli Billing stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. LaSalle incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
