McJannet's hat trick boosts St. Thomas over Strathroy, 4-0

The Strathroy Rockets could not stop the St. Thomas Stars' Matt McJannet, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-0 win.

McJannet notched his first tally 14:05 into the second period. He then added goals at 1:52 into the third and at 9:47 into the third.

St. Thomas was boosted by Nikolas Dampier, who turned in a shutout with 34 saves. Dampier managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.23 prior to the game.

The Stars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Strathroy power plays. Strathroy was unable to stop St. Thomas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stars eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

St. Thomas also got a goal from James Newland as well. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Carson Brookshaw, who had two, Spencer Hutchinson, who had three, and Jake Reed, Adam Keyes, and Ethan Nother, who contributed one each.

The Rockets were held below their usual level of production. Strathroy puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. The Rockets forced St. Thomas goalie Dampier to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Strathroy's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Stars' power play unit.

St. Thomas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rockets' Dan Davies stopped 45 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Strathroy incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Rockets, TJ Harris was ejected from the game.
