Welland falls to Fort Erie in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Fort Erie Meteors pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Welland Jr. Canadians on a clutch goal by Anthony Passero.

The teams traded the lead four times and neither team could skate away and hide. Welland took its last lead at 10:56 in the third on a goal by Jake Shaw to make the score 4-3 the Jr. Canadians. Fort Erie took over the lead for good with a goal by Passero 4:44 into the fifth to make the score 5-4.

The Meteors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Fort Erie's offense rang up 51 shots on Welland's net.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Holden Garlent, who also finished with two goals and one assist. More assists for Fort Erie came via Manny Manns, who had two and Brayden Lachance, Darien Kielb, Ben Evans, and Danial Singer, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Canadians forced the Meteors goalie Lachance to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Welland also got points from Tyler Stranges, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Welland also got a goal from Nicholas Boehmer as well. In addition, Welland received assists from Brayden Crowder, who had three and Nathan MacDuff, Matt Martin, and Adam Barron, who contributed one each.

Lachance recorded 35 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chris Janzen made 46 saves for Welland on 51 shots. The Jr. Canadians incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
