MacSorley lifts Elmira over Listowel, 6-2

The Elmira Sugar Kings relied on the scoring touch of Mackenzie MacSorley, who netted two goals, to beat the Listowel Cyclones, 6-2.

MacSorley scored on the power play at 12:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Elmira and again while 3:01 into the second to make the score 3-0 Elmira.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:27 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Elmira's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Listowel power plays. The Sugar Kings' goal total was higher than their season average. Elmira has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Elmira additionally got points from Dawson Shackelton, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Elmira also had goals scored by Quinten Bruce, Zac Coulter, and Ty Biles, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Mitch Montgomery, Colton Culbert, and Ethan Skinner, who contributed one each and Jeff Jordan and Ryan Walsh, who each chipped in two.

The Sugar Kings were unable to stop Listowel from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cyclones eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Listowel struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Elmira to score three power play goals on four chances.

Liam Devine rejected 34 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Sugar Kings, Montgomery was ejected from the game. The Cyclones' starting goalie, Wyatt Nicholson, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tyler Fassl, who stopped six shots. Listowel ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Team's Jakob Lee and Holdyn Lansink were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
