Guelph holds on for 3-2 win against Brampton

The Brampton Bombers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Guelph Hurricanes would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Guelph took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Brampton storm back on a Adel Zivojevic goal 18:46 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Bombers' power play was ineffective against the Hurricanes' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Guelph excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Hurricanes' offense rang up 32 shots on Brampton's net.

Guelph was helped by Corson Searles, who registered one goal. Searles scored short handed 12:56 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Guelph. The Hurricanes found themselves down a man on Ryan Burns's tripping. Lucas Dybowski picked up the assist. Guelph also got points from Dybowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Guelph also got a goal from Alex Ritchie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Quinn Hanna, who had one.

The Bombers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Guelph power plays.

Brampton was led by Yianni Liarakos, who had one goal and one assist. Liarakos scored 4:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Brad Bollert provided the assist. In addition, Brampton received assists from Lucas Goodman, who had one.

Jason DaSilva made 24 saves for Guelph on 26 shots. The Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Bombers' Eric Pitcher stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Brampton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
