St. Thomas squeaks by Lambton Shores, 5-4

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Thomas Stars escaped with a 5-4 victory over the Lambton Shores Predators.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Andrew Chambers's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Carson Brookshaw had a great game for St. Thomas, netting two goals. Brookshaw found the back of the net on the power play 9:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Thomas and again while 18:29 into the third to make the score 6-4 St. Thomas.

Lambton Shores was stymied by the Stars' netminder Nikolas Dampier, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Dampier managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.44 prior to the game.

St. Thomas stifled the Predators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lambton Shores was unable to stop the Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Thomas eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Others who scored for St. Thomas included Ethan Nother and Cal Horvat, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Matt McJannet, who had two and Carson Moniz, Adam Keyes, and Eric Henderson, who contributed one each.

The Predators' offense rang up 42 shots on the Stars' net.

Lambton Shores was led by C.J. Kusch, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kusch scored 8:35 into the third period to make the score 5-4 St. Thomas. Vaughn Treppa picked up the assist. Lambton Shores additionally got points from Marcel Berube, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Lambton Shores also had goals scored by Andrew Kim and Brenden Trottier, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Franco Sproviero, who had two and Ethan Sarfati and Ryan Fraser, who each chipped in one.

St. Thomas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Predators' Keegan Paulette stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Lambton Shores incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Mike Zottl and Gino Mini were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
