Brantford falls to Stratford after surprising comeback

The Stratford Cullitons rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Stratford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Cullitons was down 2-0 after a goal by Brantford's Isaac Nurse at 11:37 in the third period. Stratford knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Deven Kropf at 14:00 in the third period. The Cullitons netted the game winner short handed at 15:30 in the third period on a goal by Kropf.

Stratford got the win thanks to a great game by Hayden Broomhead, who had two goals and one assist. Broomhead scored the first of his two goals at 13:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brantford. Tristan Hohl picked up the assist. Broomhead's next tally made the score 3-2 Stratford with 4:30 left in the third period. The Cullitons were on a disadvantage when Zander Pryor went off the ice for slashing.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:11 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Stratford forced the 99ers goalie Tristan Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

In addition, Stratford received assists from Jared Nash, who had one.

Brantford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Jack Phibbs also scored for Brantford. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Brandon Scanlin, who had two and Kyle Walker and Bryce O`Brien, who each chipped in one.

Alexander Brooks-Potts made 22 saves for the Cullitons on 24 shots. Stratford ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Cullitons, Anthony Kotsovos was ejected from the game. Lewis recorded 32 saves for the 99ers. Brantford totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The 99ers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Guy Polillo was ejected from the game.
