The game between the St. Catharines Falcons and the Welland Jr. Canadians was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Catharines emerged with a 4-2 win. The Falcons gained the winning advantage on a goal by Owen Green 3:54 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. St. Catharines got the win with help from a great game by Tyler Hildebrandt, who had one goal and three assists. Hildebrandt scored 18:59 into the third period to make the score 4-2 St. Catharines. Tyler Jackson picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:20 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Falcons' offense rang up 34 shots on Welland's net. Others who scored for St. Catharines included James Guest and Mitchell Webb, who each put in one. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Cole Langan and Brandon Cercone, who contributed one each. The Jr. Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Welland was helped by Brayden Crowder, who finished with one goal. Crowder scored 19:06 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Stranges assisted on the tally. Nathan MacDuff also scored for Welland. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Nathan Ferris and Matt Martin, who each chipped in one. Joel Horodziejczyk made 19 saves for St. Catharines on 21 shots. The Falcons ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For St. Catharines, Brandon Vuic was ejected from the game. Brandon McCorriston rejected 30 shots on goal for the Jr. Canadians. Welland totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Jr. Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nicholas Boehmer was ejected from the game.
