Elmira downs Brantford in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Dan Snyder Memorial Sun, Nov 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Brantford 99ers on a clutch goal by Mackenzie MacSorley. Zac Coulter and MacSorley provided the spark for Elmira, combining for three goals and one assist. Coulter grabbed two goals and MacSorley also added one goal and one assist. The Sugar Kings stifled Brantford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Elmira forced the 99ers goalie Will Rawski to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Elmira also got points from Ethan Skinner, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and MacSorley, who also had one goal and one assist. Elmira also got a goal from Kyle Soper as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Ryan Walsh, who had two and Rob Kohli and David Elford, who contributed one each. Brantford kept the Sugar Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Devine made 31 saves on 35 shots. The 99ers were led by Kyle Walker, who finished with two goals. Walker scored the first of his two goals at 13:26 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Elmira. Matthew Woods picked up the assist. Walker's next tally made the score 4-4 with 6:51 left in the third period. Guy Polillo assisted on the tally. Brantford additionally got points from Isaac Nurse, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jay Dekker also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Matt Scanlin and Justin Donnelly, who each chipped in one. Elmira incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Sugar Kings, Dawson Shackelton was ejected from the game. Rawski recorded 35 saves for Brantford. The 99ers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
