Strathroy blows out LaSalle, 6-3

The Strathroy Rockets were firing on all cylinders against the LaSalle Vipers, and when the final buzzer sounded Rockets emerged with a 6-3 win.

Strathroy got the win thanks to a great game by Kieran Milne, who had two goals and one assist. Milne scored the first of his two goals at 4:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Nick Griffin assisted on the tally. Milne's next tally made the score 4-1 Strathroy with 13:26 left in the second period.

The Rockets' penalty kill excelled, as Strathroy gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The Rockets' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Strathroy surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rockets' offense rang up 44 shots on LaSalle's net. Strathroy found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Rockets average 2.6 goals per game.

Strathroy also got points from Griffin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Strathroy included Turner Balasin, Max Ewart, and Lucas Latina, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Shane Bulitka, who had two and Evan Hogg, Steve Griggs, Wesley Kelly, and Codey McRoberts, who each chipped in one.

The Vipers forced Strathroy goalie Dane Gubbels to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

LaSalle was helped by Nolan Gardiner, who racked up one goal. Gardiner scored 2:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Strathroy. Blake Jones picked up the assist. LaSalle also had goals scored by Nathan Savage and Brett Banwell, who each put in one. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Connor Matton, Liam MacDougall, and Kyle Auger, who contributed one each.

Gubbels rejected 35 shots on goal for the Rockets. Strathroy registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Rockets, Ewart was ejected from the game. Paolo Battisti made 38 saves for the Vipers on 44 shots. LaSalle incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
