Fort Erie rolls over Pelham, 7-0

The Pelham Panthers had trouble finding ways to stop the Fort Erie Meteors, which beat Panthers, 7-0.

Anthony Passero had one goal and two assists to lead Fort Erie. Passero scored 11:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Manny Manns picked up the assist.

Pelham's power play was ineffective against the Meteors' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:41 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Fort Erie forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Meteors had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Fort Erie forced the Panthers' goalies to work without much rest, finishing with 52 shots and forcing 45 saves. Stephen Harvey made 37 stops and Jarrett Moore made eight. The Meteors stifled Pelham's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Erie outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Meteors average 2.9 goals per contest.

Fort Erie also got points from Danial Singer, who also tallied two goals and two assists to lead the team in points and Manns, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Fort Erie included Bryce Martin, Ben Evans, and Holden Garlent, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Evan Krassey, who had one and Darien Kielb and Troy Henley, who each chipped in two.

The Panthers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 61 minutes in penalty time. Pelham surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. The Panthers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Pelham puts an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game.

Brayden Lachance recorded 23 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Fort Erie ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kielb was ejected from the game. Team's Thomas Young and Cameron DeFazio were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
