The Chatham Maroons had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the St. Thomas Stars. Chatham got the win on the strength of a great game by Ian Faubert, who had one goal and two assists. Faubert scored on the power play 17:21 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Chatham. The Maroons had gained a power play chance when Cal Horvat was whistled for high sticking. Gus Ford provided the assist. Chatham's penalty kill excelled, as the Maroons gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. Chatham kept St. Thomas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nikolas Dampier made 52 saves on 58 shots. Chatham additionally got points from Connor Koviak, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Teddy McGeen, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Michael Levesque, who also had one goal and one assist. Austin Thompson also scored for Chatham. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Connor McKinnon, who had one and Ross Krieger, who had two. The Stars did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. St. Thomas averages 4.5 goals per game. The Maroons were unable to stop the Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Thomas eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Stars were helped by Carson Brookshaw, who grabbed one goal. Brookshaw scored on the power play 5:08 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. St. Thomas earned a power play opportunity when Cory Bussing was put in the box for roughing. Matt McJannet assisted on the tally. St. Thomas also got points from McJannet, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Carson Moniz, Ethan Nother, and Carter McCormick, who each chipped in one. Chatham's Parker Butler stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Maroons incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Stars incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
