Stratford downs Guelph in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Hayden Broomhead gave the Stratford Cullitons a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Guelph Hurricanes when he scored 4:57 into the extra period.

Jack Scanlan and Broomhead provided the spark for Stratford, combining for three goals and one assist. Scanlan finished with two goals and Broomhead also added one goal and one assist.

The Cullitons stifled Guelph's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford forced the Hurricanes goalie Jason DaSilva to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Stratford also got points from Broomhead, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Tyson Baker, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dylan Lebold also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Anthony Kotsovos, who had two and Joe Leahy, Brock Heshka, Jared Nash, Zander Pryor, and Josh Miller, who each chipped in one.

Guelph was helped by Chris Poletek, who tallied two goals. Poletek scored the first of his two goals at 6:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Corson Searles picked up the assist. Poletek's next tally made the score 2-1 Guelph with 9:04 left in the first period. Searles provided the assist. Guelph additionally got points from Searles, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Guelph also got a goal from Alex Ritchie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Dylan Wallace and Quinn Hanna, who contributed one each and Kevin Fitzpatrick and Ryan Waterhouse, who each chipped in two.

The Cullitons' Nick Redman stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Stratford incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jason DaSilva made 42 saves for the Hurricanes on 47 shots. Guelph incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
