Leamington downs Sarnia, 2-1

Mitchell Amante finished with one point to lead the Leamington Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:51 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Leamington stifled Sarnia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Leamington puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Flyers forced the Legionnaires goalie Aidan Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Scott Emerson also scored for Leamington. More assists for Leamington came via Nicolas Mainella, Mitchell Crevatin, and Joe Urbanic, who each chipped in one.

Sarnia was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Legionnaires had been spending in the box.

Sarnia was led by Ryan Vendramin, who scored the team's only goal. Vendramin scored 17:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Konnor Roskovich assisted on the tally.

Tyler Wall recorded 20 saves for Leamington. The Flyers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Leamington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Sanko was ejected from the game. The Legionnaires' Hughes stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Sarnia registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Team's Ethan Dupont and Eric Marsh were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
