Evans' big game bests Ancaster in 4-1 St. Catharines win

Jake Evans was all over the ice for the St. Catharines Falcons, as he tallied two goals and one assist in St. Catharines' 4-1 win over the Ancaster Avalanche.

Evans' tallies came at 3:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines and 18:55 into the third to make the score 4-1 St. Catharines.

The Falcons were led by goalie Joel Horodziejczyk, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Horodziejczyk managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.35 prior to the game.

St. Catharines also got points from Brandon Vuic, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Justin Felker also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Nicholas Dozzi, who had two and Broderick Kelly, Tyler Jackson, Griffin Roubos, and Brandon Cercone, who each chipped in one.

Ancaster's offense operated below its season average. The Avalanche put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

Ancaster was led by Matt Mannella, who scored the team's only goal. Mannella scored on the power play 5:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster. The Avalanche had gotten the advantage when St. Catharines' Evans was sent off for high sticking. Fedor Gordeev picked up the assist.

The Falcons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cole Ceci rejected 23 shots on goal for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Ancaster, Cole Nagy was ejected from the game.
