Kitchener blows out Waterloo, 4-1

The Kitchener Dutchmen had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Waterloo Siskins.

Jason Willms had two goals to lead Kitchener to victory. Willms' tallies came at 11:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener and 12:55 into the second to make the score 3-1 Kitchener.

The Dutchmen's Luke Richardson was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Richardson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.82 entering the contest.

Kitchener kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitchell Datz made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Kitchener additionally got points from Matthew Cruickshank, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mark Bzowey also scored for Kitchener. More assists for Kitchener came via Scott Pedersen, who had two and Alex Demrovsky, Matt Scott, Adam Kawalec, and Jeremy Kuehn, who contributed one each.

The Siskins were led by Brett Schaefer, who scored the team's only goal. Schaefer scored on the power play 1:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Owen Kipke assisted on the tally.

The Dutchmen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Waterloo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
