The Guelph Hurricanes relied on the sparkling performance of Jason DaSilva in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks. Guelph's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Guelph was sparked by Stefano Pezzetta, who had one goal. Pezzetta scored 11:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Guelph. Ryan Migliaccio assisted on the tally. The Hurricanes stifled Cambridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Guelph forced the Winter Hawks goalie Owen Savory to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Guelph also got a goal from Dylan Wallace as well. More assists for Guelph came via Kevin Gergely and Ryan Burns, who contributed one each. Cambridge's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Guelph power plays. The Winter Hawks were led by Cole Cummings, who scored the team's only goal. Cummings scored 7:35 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Rob Grant picked up the assist. The Hurricanes' DaSilva stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Guelph incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Savory rejected 40 shots on goal for Cambridge. The Winter Hawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cambridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt MacKay was ejected from the game.
