Thorold outlasts St. Catharines, 3-2

The game between the Thorold Blackhawks and the St. Catharines Falcons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Thorold emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Anton Trublin's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Blackhawks were sparked by Trublin, who registered one goal. Trublin scored 5:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Thorold. Adam Kozlowski picked up the assist.

Thorold excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Others who scored for Thorold included Brendan D`Agostino and David D`Agostino, who each put in one. In addition, Thorold received assists from Tyler Sehovic, who had two and Anthony Merante, Aaron Nunes, and Mitchell Mendonca, who each chipped in one.

St. Catharines was helped by Ty Learn, who tallied one goal. Learn scored 10:02 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tyler Jackson provided the assist. Jake Evans also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Griffin Roubos, Brandon Cercone, and Tyler Hildebrandt, who contributed one each.

The Blackhawks' Josh Astorino stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Thorold incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Blackhawks, Daniel Pugliese was ejected from the game. Cameron Gray made 25 saves for the Falcons on 28 shots. St. Catharines incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
