Leamington blows out Sarnia, 6-2Sarnia Arena Tue, Nov 10, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Leamington Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Sarnia Legionnaires, and when the final buzzer sounded Flyers emerged with a 6-2 win. Sarnia's power play was ineffective against Leamington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Flyers were led by Liam Hogan, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Hogan scored short handed 10:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Leamington. Leamington played down a man on Scott Emerson's cross checking. The Flyers kept the Legionnaires' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shayne Battler made 31 saves on 37 shots. Leamington additionally got points from Mark Gangnon, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Leamington included Matthew Opblinger, who had two and Joe Urbanic and Evan Ferguson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Leamington received assists from Cale Phibbs, who had three and J.P. Grineau, Nicolas Mainella, and Mitchell Amante, who each chipped in one. Sarnia could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Legionnaires were helped by Ethan Dupont, who tallied one goal. Dupont scored 15:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sarnia. Alec DeKoning picked up the assist. Brad Yowart also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Jordan Fogarty, who had one and Ryan Vendramin, who had two. Tyler Wall made 25 saves for Leamington on 27 shots. The Flyers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
