Caledonia falls to Ancaster in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Haldimand Center Sun, Nov 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Owen Burnell gave the Ancaster Avalanche a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Caledonia Corvairs when he scored 3:27 into the extra period. Burnell had a great game for Ancaster, netting two goals. The Avalanche's penalty kill excelled, as Ancaster gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Avalanche were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances. Ancaster could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Lucas Pozzobon also scored for Ancaster. More assists for Ancaster came via Joshua Pace, who had two and Ben Hughes, Max Balinson, Zach Lawrence, and Ryan Cox, who each chipped in one. Caledonia did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Corvairs average 5.8 goals per game. Caledonia's offense rang up 37 shots on the Avalanche's net. The Corvairs' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Caledonia finished with 34 penalty minutes. The Corvairs were helped by Corey Pawley, who grabbed one goal. Pawley scored on the power play 15:08 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Caledonia had gotten the advantage when Ancaster's Ryan Sullivan was sent off for roughing. Mitch Graham provided the assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Matt McCartney as well. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Ryan Punkari, Quentin Maksimovich, and Tait Seguin, who contributed one each. The Avalanche's Matt Calas stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Mark Sinclair recorded 20 saves for the Corvairs.
