A hat trick by Ben Hughes was the highlight in Avalanche's 4-0 win against the Niagara Falls Canucks. Hughes got on the scoresheet 14:27 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:52 into the third and at 12:32 into the third.The Ancaster Avalanche were boosted by Cole Ceci, who turned in a shutout with 30 saves. The solid play of Ceci will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.49. Ancaster stifled Niagara Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Avalanche's defense was surprisingly good. Ancaster gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. The Avalanche could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Ancaster also got a goal from Ryan Cox as well. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Jesse Hilton, Max Balinson, Lucas Pozzobon, and Matt Mannella, who contributed one each. The Canucks were held below their usual level of production. Niagara Falls puts an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game. The Canucks found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Joseph Murdaca recorded 26 saves for Niagara Falls. The Canucks registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
