Caledonia blows out Fort Erie, 8-3

The Caledonia Corvairs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Caledonia got the win behind a great game by Matthew Hore, who had one goal and two assists. Hore scored on the power play 6:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. An interference penalty on Paolo Sivilotti had put the Corvairs on the power play. Corey Pawley provided the assist.

Fort Erie's power play was ineffective against Caledonia's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Corvairs forced the Meteors' goalies to work all game long, ripping 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Brayden Lachance made 14 stops and Riley Daniels made 13. Caledonia put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fort Erie to score on any of its six power plays.

Caledonia additionally got points from Blake Luscombe, who also registered one goal and one assist, Austin Brown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mitch Graham, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Matt Rimac, who also had one goal and one assist, and Quentin Maksimovich, who also registered two goals and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Jake Brown as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Jonathan Pace, Chadd Bauman, and Tait Seguin, who contributed one each and Nick Zottl and Johnathon Schaefer, who each chipped in two.

The Meteors found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Fort Erie was helped by Holden Garlent, who registered one goal. Garlent scored short handed 15:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie. A tripping call on Nick Passafiume put the Meteors on the penalty kill. Dakota Miskolczi picked up the assist. Fort Erie also got points from Miskolczi, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Danial Singer also scored for Fort Erie. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Ben Evans, who had one and Bryce Martin, who had two.

The Corvairs' Zach Moore stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Caledonia incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Fort Erie ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Miskolczi was ejected from the game.
