Brantford erases deficit to stun Cambridge, 5-4Galt Arena Gardens Sat, Nov 07, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brantford 99ers rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Cambridge Winter Hawks. Brantford let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The 99ers took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Kyle Walker at 11:28 in the first period. Brantford went down 4-2 after Cambridge's Matt MacKay put the puck home at 10:40 in the second period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Walker at 11:50 in the third, the 99ers got the game-winner from Jack Phibbs at 13:50 in the third period. Brantford outdid its season average for goals scored. The 99ers average 2.7 goals per game. Brantford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game. Nick Visser also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Ethan Hager, Christian Polillo, Ryon Pereira, Alec Tiley, and Brandon Scanlin, who contributed one each and Guy Polillo and Bryce O`Brien, who each chipped in two. The Winter Hawks forced the 99ers goalie Tristan Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Cambridge was helped by Matt Steen, who racked up one goal and one assist. Steen scored on the power play 4:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cambridge. Cole Cummings assisted on the tally. Cambridge additionally got points from Cummings, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Scott Del Zotto as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Robert Proner, Kyle Heitzner, Zack Hedley, and Jake Beard, who contributed one each. Lewis rejected 30 shots on goal for Brantford. The 99ers registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Caleb Ziemann made 24 saves for the Winter Hawks on 29 shots. Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
