Behind a great game by Matthew Marsden, who had two goals, the Niagara Falls Canucks defeated the Fort Erie Meteors, 3-0. Marsden scored on the power play at 5:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls and again while 11:41 into the second to make the score 3-0 Niagara Falls.Niagara Falls pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Canucks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Fort Erie power plays. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Thomas Flack as well. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara Falls were Matthew Baldinelli, who had two and Frank Pucci, Zack Lansfield, Scott Grieve, and Luke Laurin, who contributed one each. Fort Erie forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The Meteors surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Fort Erie did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Meteors put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Joseph Murdaca made 24 saves for Niagara Falls on 24 shots. The Canucks registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Niagara Falls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tanner Allen was ejected from the game. Riley Daniels recorded 25 saves for Fort Erie. For the Meteors, Tristan Drescher was ejected from the game.
