Lambton Shores survives LaSalle comeback, wins 5-4

The LaSalle Vipers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Lambton Shores Predators held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Connor Merritt put Lambton Shores up 5-3 in the third period, but LaSalle pulled to within one on Manny Silverio's tally 16:57 into the third period.

Merritt was all over the ice for the Predators, as he tallied two goals in the win.

The Vipers were unable to stop Lambton Shores from sending pucks towards the net, and the Predators eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. Lambton Shores was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

Lambton Shores additionally got points from Calvin Hughson, who also had one goal and one assist, Colin Burns, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Brenden Trottier, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Marcel Berube, who had one and Franco Sproviero and Ethan Sarfati, who each chipped in two.

LaSalle's offense rang up 37 shots on the Predators' net. The Vipers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 23 minutes in penalties during the game.

LaSalle was helped by Blake Jones, who racked up one goal. Jones scored 18:48 into the second period to make the score 3-2 LaSalle. Liam MacDougall assisted on the tally. LaSalle also got points from MacDougall, who also had one goal and one assist and Silverio, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tyler Russell also scored for LaSalle. More assists for LaSalle came via Zack Hoffman, Clay Kraynack, James Brooks, Connor Rosaasen, and Kyle Auger, who contributed one each.

Anthony Hurtubise recorded 33 saves for Lambton Shores. The Predators incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Eli Billing made 47 saves for the Vipers on 52 shots. LaSalle registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nikko Sablone was ejected from the game.
