Brampton squeaks by Elmira, 5-4Dan Snyder Memorial Sun, Nov 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Brampton Bombers and the Elmira Sugar Kings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Brampton emerged with a 5-4 win. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Yianni Liarakos at 16:32 of the third period. Mitch Shennette and Liarakos provided the spark for the Bombers, combining for three goals and two assists. Shennette registered two goals and one assist and Liarakos also notched one goal and one assist. Brampton's offense rang up 37 shots on Elmira's net. The Bombers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Brampton averages 2.6 goals per game. Brampton additionally got points from Adel Zivojevic, who also had one goal and one assist and Liarakos, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Patrick Zilak as well. More assists for Brampton came via Wyatt Weppler, Mike Rehding, and Justin Coles, who each chipped in one and Tayler Woolcott and Ramon Lopez, who contributed two each. The Sugar Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Elmira kept the Bombers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Rhynold made 27 saves on 31 shots. The Sugar Kings' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Elmira was helped by Alex Peterson, who racked up two goals. Peterson scored the first of his two goals at 18:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zac Coulter picked up the assist. Peterson's next tally made the score 3-3 with 12:47 left in the third period. Ty Biles provided the assist. Elmira also got points from Coulter, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ryley Cribbin also scored for Elmira. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Jeff Jordan, who had two and Ethan Skinner, Quinten Bruce, Ryan Walsh, and Mackenzie MacSorley, who each chipped in one. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mike Black rejected 32 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
