London survives penalties, beats St. Marys, 7-3

The St. Marys Lincolns failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the London Nationals shook off a number of penalties to win, 7-3.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:52 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

London kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Emanuel Vella made 45 saves on 52 shots. The Nationals outdid their season average for goals scored. London averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Nationals were led by Jordan Di Cicco, who tallied one goal and two assists. Di Cicco scored 5:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 London. Matt Bean assisted on the tally. London additionally got points from Scott Dorion, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Scott Goodman, who also had one goal and one assist. London also had goals scored by Rai Di Loreto and Trevor Dulong, who scored two goals each. More assists for London came via Eric Guest, who had one, Austin Kemp, who had two, and Kevin Madden, who had three.

The Lincolns' offense rang up 33 shots on London's net.

St. Marys was led by Brent House, who registered one goal and two assists. House scored 17:55 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Glover picked up the assist. Others who scored for St. Marys included Dan Cloutier and Graham Brulotte, who each put in one. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Nolan King, who had one.

Zack Weir rejected 30 shots on goal for the Nationals. London totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Nationals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Max Vinogradov was ejected from the game. The Lincolns totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For St. Marys, Matt Granger was ejected from the game.
