Stokes leads Guelph over Elmira, 5-2

Behind a great game by Cameron Stokes, who had two goals and one assist, the Guelph Hurricanes defeated the Elmira Sugar Kings, 5-2.

Stokes scored at 10:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Elmira and again while 9:55 into the third to make the score 3-2 Guelph.

Guelph forced Elmira goalie Liam Conway to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Guelph additionally got points from Brody Milne, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Guelph included Stefano Pezzetta and Corson Searles, who each put in one. In addition, Guelph received assists from Sebastian Stangherlin, Ryan Migliaccio, Liam Kendall, Lucas Dybowski, Tyler Burns, and Alex Ritchie, who contributed one each.

The Sugar Kings stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Elmira was helped by Ty Biles, who registered one goal. Biles scored 2:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Alex Peterson assisted on the tally. Ryan Walsh also scored for Elmira.

Christian Propp recorded 20 saves for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Sugar Kings' Conway stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Elmira incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
