Schnarr, Mantz dominate Brantford, lead Waterloo to 6-3 win

Behind two goals and one assist from Nate Schnarr and two goals and two assists from Gary Mantz, the Waterloo Siskins downed the Brantford 99ers 6-3.

Schnarr scored the first of his two goals at 7:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Mantz provided the assist. Schnarr's next tally made the score 5-3 Waterloo with 43 seconds left in the third period. Mantz assisted on the tally. Mantz scored the first of his two goals at 10:49 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Waterloo. Mitchell Rooney provided the assist. Mantz's next tally made the score 6-3 Waterloo with 33 seconds left in the third period. Schnarr picked up the assist.

Waterloo's offense rang up 35 shots on Brantford's net. The Siskins' goal total was higher than their season average. Waterloo has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Waterloo also got points from Mantz, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points and Connor Bodnar, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Austin Bentley also scored for Waterloo. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Nick King, who had two and Joshua Slegers, Jesse Hewak, Luke Gazzola, and Nick Hirst, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Siskins to score on any of their five power plays.

Brantford was led by Kyle Walker, who registered two goals. Walker scored the first of his two goals at 5:58 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brett Parsons assisted on the tally. Walker's next tally made the score 2-2 with 9:48 left in the second period. Parsons picked up the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Christian Polillo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Matt Scanlin, Jack Phibbs, and Zander Pryor, who contributed one each.

Waterloo's Mitchell Datz stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Siskins incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Waterloo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Owen Kipke was ejected from the game. Tyson Taylor rejected 29 shots on goal for the 99ers. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
