GAME RECAP

Cambridge beats Brampton 3-0 as Reinhart gains shutout

Galt Arena Gardens    Sat, Oct 24, 2015

The Cambridge Winter Hawks used a sparkling performance by Evan Reinhart to take down the Brampton Bombers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Cambridge's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Winter Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Cambridge was led by Robert Proner, who had one goal. Proner scored on the power play 17:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. A head contact penalty on Jordan Oshowy had put the Winter Hawks on the power play. Scott Del Zotto provided the assist.

Cambridge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brampton to score on any of its six power plays. The Winter Hawks' defense was surprisingly good. Cambridge averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Winter Hawks' offense rang up 42 shots on the Bombers' net.

Cambridge also had goals scored by Jake Beard and Alex Mutton, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Matt Steen, who had two.

Brampton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bombers put an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game. Brampton forced Cambridge goalie Reinhart to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Bombers found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Reinhart rejected 36 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Jason Rhynold recorded 39 saves for Brampton.
