Brantford's comeback falls short, Stratford wins 6-4

The Brantford 99ers almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Stratford Cullitons managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Stratford led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Cullitons' Joe Leahy scored at 14:51 in the first period to put Stratford up 4-0.

Tyson Baker had two goals to lead the Cullitons to victory. Baker found the back of the net 3:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford and again while on the power play 8:03 into the first to make the score 2-0 Stratford.

Stratford stifled Brantford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cullitons forced the 99ers goalie Will Rawski to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Stratford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stratford also got points from Leahy, who also tallied one goal and three assists and Jared Nash, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Stratford included Jack Scanlan and Justin Graham, who each put in one. In addition, Stratford received assists from Hayden Broomhead, who had four and Josh Higgins and Tristan Hohl, who contributed one each.

Brantford struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

The 99ers were helped by Brett Parsons, who had one goal. Parsons scored 19:34 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Stratford. Jack Phibbs provided the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Zander Pryor as well. More assists for Brantford came via Guy Polillo, who had one.

Carson Poulin rejected 26 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Brantford's Rawski stopped 27 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The 99ers registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
