Dozzi's big game bests Thorold in 7-0 St. Catharines win

Nicholas Dozzi was all over the ice for the St. Catharines Falcons, as he tallied two goals and two assists in St. Catharines' 7-0 win over the Thorold Blackhawks.

Dozzi's tallies came at 12:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines and 14:57 into the first to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines.

The Falcons were boosted by Joel Horodziejczyk, who turned in a shutout with 30 saves. Horodziejczyk managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.17 prior to the game.

St. Catharines forced Thorold's goalies to work in net, firing 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Josh Astorino made 25 stops and Fraser Kirk made nine. The Falcons bested their season scoring average. St. Catharines has scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Falcons capitalized on the Blackhawks' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Others who scored for St. Catharines included Brandon Vuic, who had two and Justin Felker, Mitchell Webb, and Manny Manns, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Catharines came via Brandon Cercone and Brett Brooker, who contributed one each and James Guest and Jake Evans, who each chipped in three.

Thorold could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Blackhawks put an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game.

St. Catharines incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Thorold incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
