Sarnia outlasts St. Marys, 5-4Sarnia Arena Thu, Oct 22, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Sarnia Legionnaires gutted out a close 5-4 win against the St. Marys Lincolns. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jordan Fogarty at 18:59 of the third period. Fogarty was all over the ice for Sarnia, as he racked up two goals in the win. The Legionnaires forced St. Marys goalie Emanuel Vella to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Sarnia additionally got points from Ryan Vendramin, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Alec DeKoning, who also had one goal and one assist. Sarnia also got a goal from Ryan Trottier as well. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Derrick Johnson, Jarret Marks, Eric Marsh, Brett Storr, and Brad Yowart, who each chipped in one. The Lincolns were helped by Graham Brulotte, who finished with two goals. Brulotte scored the first of his two goals at 15:49 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Brent House provided the assist. Brulotte's next tally made the score 4-4 with 13:02 left in the third period. St. Marys earned a power play opportunity when DeKoning was put in the box for slashing. Nolan King assisted on the tally. St. Marys also got points from House, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Phillip Buque also scored for St. Marys. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Matt Granger and Nathan Smith, who contributed one each. Jakob Knowles made 25 saves for Sarnia on 29 shots. The Legionnaires incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Lincolns' Vella stopped 46 shots out of the 51 that he faced. St. Marys incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
