Guelph falls to Stratford in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Stratford Cullitons' Jared Nash scored 2:25 into overtime to beat the Guelph Hurricanes, 3-2 (OT).

Stratford's penalty kill excelled, as the Cullitons gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

In the losing effort, Guelph was led by Ryan Burns, who tallied two goals. Burns scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:50 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Hurricanes had taken the advantage when Stratford's Joe Leahy got sent off for hooking. Ryan Migliaccio assisted on the tally. Burns' next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Guelph with 4:53 left in the third period. Lucas Dybowski provided the assist.

The Cullitons forced Guelph goalie Jason DaSilva to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Stratford also got points from Hayden Broomhead, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Tyson Baker, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Stratford came via Josh Miller, who had one.

The Hurricanes stifled Stratford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Guelph's offense rang up 35 shots on the Cullitons' net.

Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Sebastian Stangherlin, who had one.

Stratford's Nick Redman stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Cullitons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jason DaSilva made 37 saves for the Hurricanes on 40 shots. Guelph incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Hurricanes, Cameron Palmer was ejected from the game.
