Dampier leads St. Thomas to shutout victory over St. Marys

The St. Thomas Stars used a sparkling performance by Nikolas Dampier to take down the St. Marys Lincolns, as the netminder did not allow a goal in St. Thomas' 4-0 shutout victory.

The Stars were led by Eric Henderson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Henderson scored 1:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Ryan Valentini assisted on the tally.

St. Thomas stifled St. Marys' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Stars forced the Lincolns goalie Paul Town to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Matt McJannet, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Valentini, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Brody Smith, who had one and Carson Brookshaw, who had two.

St. Marys put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Thomas to score on any of its three power plays. The Lincolns' offense operated below their season average. St. Marys puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game.

Dampier recorded 25 saves for the Stars. St. Thomas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Lincolns' Town stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. St. Marys incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
