Kitchener beats Listowel 5-2 as Kuehn gets hat trick

Jeremy Kuehn lifted the Kitchener Dutchmen to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Listowel Cyclones.

Kuehn's first goal came 18:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:55 into the second and at 2:43 into the third.

Listowel's power play was ineffective against Kitchener's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Dutchmen forced the Cyclones goalie Tyler Fassl to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Kitchener could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kitchener also got points from Logan Schmidt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Jason Willms as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Adam Kawalec, who had three and Mark Bzowey, Marselis Subban, Nathan Grossi, and Connor Cole, who contributed one each.

Listowel's offense rang up 33 shots on the Dutchmen's net.

The Cyclones were helped by Chayse Herrfort, who tallied one goal and one assist. Herrfort scored on the power play 10:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. A cross checking penalty on Bzowey had put Listowel on the power play. Jamie Huber assisted on the tally. Listowel additionally got points from Ben Shelley, who also had one goal and one assist.

Cossimo Lazzarino made 31 saves for Kitchener on 33 shots. The Dutchmen registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Fassl rejected 33 shots on goal for the Cyclones. Listowel ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Cyclones, Blake Nichol was ejected from the game.
