St. Catharines penalty kill dominates in 3-1 defeat of CaledoniaJack Gatecliff Rink Fri, Oct 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the St. Catharines Falcons were able to defeat the Caledonia Corvairs, 3-1. St. Catharines was led by Phillip Chadder, who had one goal. Chadder scored on the power play 19:25 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. The Falcons had gotten the advantage when Caledonia's Johnathon Schaefer was sent off for hooking. Mitchell Webb picked up the assist. St. Catharines put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Corvairs to score on any of their seven power plays. The Falcons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. St. Catharines also got points from Nicholas Dozzi, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Catharines also got a goal from Tyler Jackson as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Jackson Parker, Jake Evans, and Brandon Vuic, who each chipped in one. Caledonia was held below its usual level of production. The Corvairs put an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. Caledonia struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 44 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. The Corvairs were led by Jake Brown, who scored the team's only goal. Brown scored 19:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Schaefer assisted on the tally. Joel Horodziejczyk recorded 21 saves for St. Catharines. Caledonia's Marc Sinclair stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced.
