Thorold completes comeback, beats Fort Erie, 5-3

The Thorold Blackhawks climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Fort Erie Meteors, 5-3.

Thorold never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Blackhawks was down 3-0 after a goal by Fort Erie's Danial Singer at 6:09 in the first period. Thorold knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Cal Davis at 19:32 in the second period. The Blackhawks scored the game winner on the power play at 11:16 in the third period on a goal by Davis.

Thorold was paced by Nick Sacco, who finished with one goal.

The Blackhawks' offense rang up 45 shots on the Meteors' net. Thorold found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Blackhawks average 2.5 goals per game. Thorold's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Thorold additionally got points from Aaron Nunes, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and David D`Agostino, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Anton Trublin also scored for Thorold. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Anthony Merante, Perth Swick, and Tyler Sehovic, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie forced the Blackhawks goalie Josh Astorino to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

The Meteors were helped by Holden Garlent, who had two goals. Garlent scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Ben Evans provided the assist. Garlent's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Fort Erie with 14:53 left in the first period. Anthony Passero picked up the assist. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Alex Hurran, Garrett Jennings, and Declan Conway, who contributed one each.

Thorold's Astorino stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Blackhawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brayden Lachance rejected 40 shots on goal for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
