Russell's big game bests Sarnia in 4-1 LaSalle winVollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Oct 14, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers' Tyler Russell had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over the Sarnia Legionnaires. Russell scored on the power play at 7:38 into the second period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle and again while 17:47 into the third to make the score 4-1 LaSalle.LaSalle's Paolo Battisti was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Battisti will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.3. The Vipers' penalty kill excelled, as LaSalle gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. LaSalle also got points from Manny Silverio, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Liam MacDougall also scored for LaSalle. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Zack Hoffman, who had two and Matthew Doucette and Eric Kirby, who each chipped in one. The Vipers were unable to stop Sarnia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Legionnaires eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Sarnia was led by Ryan Trottier, who scored the team's only goal. Trottier scored on the power play 15:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. The Legionnaires had taken the advantage when LaSalle's Clay Kraynack got sent off for cross checking. Brandon Layman assisted on the tally. The Vipers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Shane Battler rejected 21 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Sarnia, Jacob Stos was ejected from the game.
