Caledonia downs Ancaster in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Haldimand Center Mon, Oct 12, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledonia Corvairs' Jake Brown scored 2:20 into overtime to beat the Ancaster Avalanche, 5-4 (OT). Ancaster's power play was ineffective against Caledonia's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Corvairs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Avalanche were unable to stop Caledonia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Corvairs eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. Caledonia could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The Corvairs were led by Corey Pawley, who registered three goals and two assists. Caledonia additionally got points from Blake Luscombe, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brown, who also had one goal and three assists. More assists for Caledonia came via Ryan Moran, Jacob Bianchi, Austin Brown, and Matthew Hore, who each chipped in one. Ancaster forced Caledonia goalie Mark Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Avalanche were helped by Ryan Cox, who registered one goal. Cox scored 18:15 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Caledonia. Cole Nagy picked up the assist. Ancaster also got points from Ben Hughes, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ancaster also had goals scored by Ryan Sullivan and Donato Cipriano, who each put in one. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Michael Pollice, who had three and Jesse Hilton and Matt Mannella, who contributed one each. Mark Sinclair made 31 saves for the Corvairs on 35 shots. Caledonia registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Ancaster's Matt Calas stopped 49 shots out of the 54 that he faced. The Avalanche incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
