Ryan Valentini gave the St. Thomas Stars a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Strathroy Rockets when he scored 1:10 into the extra period.

St. Thomas got the win behind a great game by Carson Brookshaw, who had two goals and two assists. Brookshaw scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A high sticking penalty on Lucas Latina had put the Stars on the power play. Matt McJannet assisted on the tally. Brookshaw's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 St. Thomas with 8:16 left in the third period. McJannet picked up the assist.

St. Thomas' offense rang up 45 shots on Strathroy's net.

St. Thomas also got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and McJannet, who also registered one goal and three assists. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Carson Moniz and Carter McCormick, who each chipped in one.

The Rockets forced the Stars goalie Nikolas Dampier to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Strathroy was led by Turner Balasin, who tallied two goals and one assist. Balasin scored the first of his two goals at 2:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Dalton Good provided the assist. Balasin's next tally made the score 4-4 with 2:17 left in the third period. Dante Copps picked up the assist. Strathroy also had goals scored by Matt McGhee and Codey McRoberts, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Steve Griggs and Mat Ouellet, who contributed one each.

Dampier recorded 29 saves for St. Thomas. The Stars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mat Ouellet made 40 saves for the Rockets on 45 shots. Strathroy incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rockets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Latina was ejected from the game.
