Leamington survives penalties, beats St. Marys, 5-1

The Leamington Flyers, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the St. Marys Lincolns' power play opportunities and emerged with a 5-1 victory.

Leamington was sparked by Travis Campbell, who had one goal. Campbell scored on the power play 10:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. The Flyers earned a power play opportunity when Dan Heelis was put in the box for holding. Mitchell Crevatin picked up the assist.

Leamington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six St. Marys power plays. The Flyers forced St. Marys goalie Paul Town to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Leamington also got points from Cale Phibbs, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Leamington also got a goal from Derek Elliott as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were J.P. Grineau, Scott Emerson, Luke Sanko, Mitchell Amante, and Mark Gangnon, who contributed one each.

The Lincolns were led by Brent House, who scored the team's only goal. House scored 18:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nolan King provided the assist.

Tyler Wall made 19 saves for Leamington on 20 shots. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Town rejected 39 shots on goal for St. Marys. The Lincolns incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
