Kitchener completes comeback, beats Listowel, 7-5

The Kitchener Dutchmen rallied from three goals down to secure a 7-5 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

Kitchener let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. The Dutchmen took a 5-4 advantage on a power play goal by Jeremy Kuehn at 9:26 in the third period. Kitchener found itself down 4-1 after Listowel's Jakob Lee put the puck home at 16:26 in the second period. After tying things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Keaton Willis at 16:07 in the third, the Dutchmen got the game-winner from Adam Kawalec at 16:13 in the third period.

Kuehn and Kawalec provided the spark for Kitchener, combining for three goals and two assists. Kuehn tallied two goals and Kawalec also added one goal and two assists.

The Cyclones were unable to stop the Dutchmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Kitchener eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Dutchmen gave up more goals than its normal season average. Kitchener is averaging 2.2 goals against for the season. The Dutchmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kitchener additionally got points from Connor Cole, who also had one goal and one assist and Kawalec, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kitchener also had goals scored by Zachary Masterson, Owen Lane, and Taite Wirschke, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Austin Gaboury, who had two, Alex Demrovsky, who had three, and Logan Schmidt, Matthew Cruickshank, and Luke Richardson, who contributed one each.

Listowel's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Listowel also got points from Brady Anderson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Listowel also got a goal from Ben Shelley as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Tim Nauta, who had two and Kade Landry, Ray McFalls, Blake Nichol, Max Coyle, Austin Huizenga, and Chayse Herrfort, who each chipped in one.

Richardson recorded 20 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Cyclones' Tyler Fassl stopped 29 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Listowel incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
