The Leamington Flyers beat the LaSalle Vipers, 3-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Leamington took over the lead for good with a goal by Mitchell Amante at 2:57 in the first period.Amante had two goals and one assist to lead the Flyers. Leamington's penalty kill excelled, as the Flyers gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Leamington stifled LaSalle's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers forced the Vipers goalie Paolo Battisti to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Leamington was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 40 penalty minutes. Leamington also got a goal from Thomas Virban as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Cale Phibbs, who had one. LaSalle's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Vipers surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. LaSalle was helped by Connor Rosaasen, who finished with one goal. Rosaasen scored 1:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. Liam MacDougall picked up the assist. Matthew Doucette also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Manny Silverio, who had two. Tyler Wall rejected 19 shots on goal for the Flyers. Leamington registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. Paolo Battisti made 39 saves for the Vipers on 42 shots. Team's Doucette and Kyle Auger were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
