Kitchener uses big second period to beat Brantford, 7-0Kinsmen Arena Sun, Oct 04, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kitchener Dutchmen used a five-goal second period to put away the Brantford 99ers, 7-0. Kitchener got the win with help from a great game by Adam Kawalec, who had two goals and one assist. Kawalec scored the first of his two goals at 2:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Connor Cole assisted on the tally. Kawalec's next tally made the score 7-0 Kitchener with 7:11 left in the third period. Cole provided the assist. Brantford was unable to stop the Dutchmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Kitchener eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. Kitchener also got points from Nathan Grossi, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jeremy Kuehn, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Kitchener also had goals scored by Logan Schmidt, Austin Gaboury, and Alex Demrovsky, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were JD Sterne, Matthew Cruickshank, Owen Lane, and Matt Scott, who each chipped in one. The 99ers' offense operated below their season average. Brantford puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. Luke Richardson rejected 17 shots on goal for the Dutchmen. Kitchener totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. The Dutchmen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lane was ejected from the game. Will Rawski made 47 saves for the 99ers on 54 shots. Brantford incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the 99ers, Brett Parsons was ejected from the game.
