Caledonia penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of PelhamHaldimand Center Sat, Oct 03, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Caledonia Corvairs were able to defeat the Pelham Panthers, 4-1. Caledonia was led by Mitch Graham, who finished with one goal. Graham scored on the power play 14:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. The Corvairs had taken the advantage when Pelham's Connor Schmalz got sent off for high sticking. Austin Brown provided the assist. Caledonia stifled the Panthers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Corvairs' offense rang up 64 shots on Pelham's net. Caledonia's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Corvairs finished with 46 penalty minutes. Caledonia also got points from Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Caledonia included Ryan Punkari and Mitchell Fitzmorris, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Matt McCartney, who had two and Blake Luscombe, Corey Pawley, Johnathon Schaefer, Tait Seguin, and Jake Brown, who contributed one each. The Panthers' power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities. Pelham struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. The Panthers were led by Thomas Young, who scored the team's only goal. Young scored 4:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pelham. Brandon MacKinnon picked up the assist. Marc Sinclair recorded 14 saves for Caledonia. Stephen Harvey made 60 saves for Pelham on 64 shots.
