Ancaster downs Niagara Falls, 5-2Morgan Firestone Sat, Oct 03, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Matt Mannella had two points to lead the Ancaster Avalanche to a 5-2 victory over the Niagara Falls Canucks. Ancaster stifled Niagara Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ancaster additionally got points from Owen Burnell, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Ancaster included Cole Nagy, Zach Lawrence, and Fedor Gordeev, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ancaster came via Lucas Pozzobon, Ryan Cox, and Joshua Pace, who contributed one each. The Avalanche were unable to stop the Canucks from sending pucks towards the net, and Niagara Falls eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Canucks were helped by Matthew Marsden, who grabbed one goal. Marsden scored 11:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Luke Laurin provided the assist. Zack Lansfield also scored for Niagara Falls. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Thomas Flack and Aviv Milner, who each chipped in one. Ancaster's Matt Calas stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Avalanche incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Ancaster, Max Balinson was ejected from the game. Joseph Murdaca rejected 20 shots on goal for Niagara Falls. The Canucks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
